EU Commission proposes expanding Frontex powers, including deportations between non-EU countries
The European Commission on 27 October 2026 proposed giving the EU border agency Frontex more staff, a central role in migrant returns and the ability to support deportations from one non-EU country to another, drawing criticism from rights groups and some lawmakers.
